Defective 3M Combat Earplugs

serious injury attorney

In July 2018, 3M Company agreed to pay $9.1 million to resolve allegations that it knowingly sold defective earplugs to the U.S. Military. But, if you suffered hearing damage as a result of using the defective earplugs, you will not receive any money from the settlement. To receive compensation for your injuries, you will have to pursue your own lawsuit against 3M, and you still have to prove that that the earplugs contributed to your injuries. In the settlement agreement, 3M admitted no liability. You’ll need the help of an experienced product liability attorney to win just compensation.

Military personnel who suffered hearing loss, tinnitus and/or loss of balance after using 3M Combat Arms Earplugs, Version 2 (CAEv2) while serving between 2003 and 2015 are suing 3M individually for their injuries. Hundreds of veterans are expected to file. If you were harmed by the defective 3M earplugs, you could receive compensation for your medical expenses, pain and suffering and more. Please, do not wait until it is too late to file your lawsuit. Call Forman Law Offices, P.A. at (800) 827 – 7731 or email us today to schedule your consultation. Your initial consultation is free of charge and if we represent you, we only charge a fee if we win money for you.

False Claims Act Lawsuit

3M agreed to pay $9.1 million to resolve allegations that it violated the False Claims Act by knowingly selling defective earplugs to the U.S. Military without disclosing the defects that decreased their effectiveness. Even so, 3M still claims that the earplugs were not defective. The settlement did not include a determination of liability.

What veterans who were harmed by the earplugs need to know is that you will not be compensated as a part of that settlement. To receive compensation for your injuries, you will have to pursue compensation on your own. The money from the settlement was never meant to compensate the people who suffered hearing loss and other injuries as a result of using the defective 3M earplugs. It all goes to the government to repay the money it spent on the defective devices.
